This year me and a couple of colleagues, we embark on a new adventure! We adopted a garden through the site ortiamo.it! So our factor (Igor Montanari) during this hot summer, twice a week, brings fresh vegetables from our garden collection! And we join them in new recipes because I know who has a garden, a vegetable in season, ends and there is in iperabbondanza and don’t know how to Cook!
Our garden produced lots of tasty onions, so did this recipe, onions with balsamic vinegar, I know, I’ve discovered hot water and probably if you use supermarket onions are not even as good, but mine were so good that I cannot but share the recipe just in tribute to our factor!!! Then: that Onions with balsamic are!
Onions with balsamic vinegar
preparation time: 10 ‘ | difficulty: very easy | cooking time: 25 ‘ |
Ingredients (for 4 people)
2 onions, one white and one red
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 Cup of white wine or hot water
1/2 Cup balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
extra virgin olive oil to taste
PREPARATION
Peel the onions and cut them in half first then into thin rounds.
Heat a pan with a little oil and when it is hot add onions, season with salt and pepper and cover with the lid so that they cook in their steam on low heat. If you were to dry out too much, you can Deglaze with .5 Cup of white wine or even warm water to bring them almost cooked (it will take 10/15 minutes).
Once arrived almost at cooking time, add the brown sugar by distributing it well, melt a few seconds, then pour in the balsamic vinegar and let it dry by completing the cooking.
You’re done!
With onions in balsamic vinegar or sour, you can prepare delicious canapés to serve as an appetizer or serve as a side dish! Will still be great!
